Well - I could squeeze one more in...

Obviously I meant clothes.
What were you thinking of?
Utter filth!

I posted on Facebook recently about my storage situation reaching crisis point
And I just received 5 more things from ebay and amazon in the post...

1960s housecoat

Two saucy body suit things - I bought one, but the seller popped another one in!
I also bought a cerise pink bra

hair combs

and from Amazon

This great book of Mexican Votive Paintings. I know my favourite Mexican Chola would love

But back to the state of my room...
There's just no space.
Here's a quick tour

This is my cupboard.

err, yeah. The chest of drawers/dressing table is full. The green doors is the airing cupboard which I don't have much space in, having to share it with the rest of the house. Although I keep my underwear and sweatpants etc in here

up to where the pink stops and the black begins is where Dad's clothes overflow starts - obviously where I get my hoarding habits from
It doesn't look much but with both rails, nearly all the hangers have more than one item on them

I also have a book storage issue

Yeah I have a lot of books

I have A LOT of knick knacks

I literally have no room left.

Well maybe a bit.

But seriously, it's getting bad. SO - what should I do? Stop buying? Perhaps I should. Maybe I should do more outfit posts instead?

oh talking of buying... thanks mainly to Melanie Folly Bird and Desiree I really want some bloomers. I actually always wanted bloomers but knowing there's others out there wearing them make it better.
I actually want some for a practical purpose - ACTUALLY.
To stop my fat thighs rubbing together when I wear dresses with bare legs in the summer

I need help - will anything but cotton cause Jungle Crotch? Thanks Karen for that one! How much they show under clothes? Frilly or not so frilly? Long or short? Is it a good idea anyway?

What do you think?

Check out this vintage bloomer footage from 1902!

Oh I completely understand where you're coming from with the lack of storage/clothing and stuff overflow. I have masses of ebay 'stock' in almost every room in my house...there is no way you can make the place look even remotely tidy when there's so many things around. I need a massive cull but I'm so idle I despair of it ever happening!

You need to have a sale! I live in a teeny weeny cottage - everytime something new comes into the house something has to leave. That's why I have a stall at vintage fairs ... all the thrill of the buy and then i can sell! M x

If you ever find bloomers let me know!!! I'd live in them during the summer. Oh and, did I just clock a rather fabulous tapestry handbag on the floor? I'll always take that off your hands if you're really struggling for space!!;)

Oh sweet I am a true bloomer and pantaloon wearer!!!! I just love them. I have many lovelies but do have to say my collection has taken years to find. I will keep an eye out for you. They are fabulous to wear.
Storage is a huge problem for any treasure hunter. We lost all ours when we lost the shops, it just chokes me to have all this stuff at home.
I'm with the lovely vintage Jane, if you can have a sale.
Love v

You are WELCOME for Jungle Crotch. In my opinion, EVERYTHING causes JUNGLE CROTCH when it's hot enough. Sigh. You know, I have the same damn problem with skirts/dresses (thighs rubbing together).

I say you should SELL a bunch of stuff, and then fill up again with new! Hooray!

Oh God, tell me about it. I have dresses hanging off every door and picture rail... mostly mine but also the stuff which is destined for Ebay, the house is overflowing... We are both ridiculous hoarders of books too, so shelves everwhere are groaning under the weight, and that's without all the kids' stuff. I don't know how anyone keeps their houses tidy, I never manage it.
What about a serious cull, and Ebay/Etsy what you don't wear much or have no space to display? Vix's Law says only keep something if you feel fabulous in it, so what about a big try on session and then be ruthless! I should take this advice myself, of course.
Bloomers sound great but you don't see them very often. I'll keep an eye out for you. Jungle Crotch - Karen enriches my word power greatly! xxxxx

"Oh My Oh mY oH mY"
You and I are in the same sort of predicament.
I have a little more space that I can fill. "But not a heck of alot"
Lucky for me half of the stuff I purchase to re-sell... although sometimes I sort of put the RE-SELLING part off and it just starts to add up.
* The housecoat is SO FUNKY!
* RAWRRR to the playboy bunny-ish bodysuits!
* That green handbag with the yellow handle in your cupboard *screamed* "LOOK AT ME AND HOW GORGEOUS I AM"
Now I will get into the minor details...
I really like your black cat that is sitting on your pink mirror.
Also I have the same little scottie dog like yours in the white dresser pic bottom left hand side...(cept mine has a slight ear chip) *haha*
I am JELOUSSSSSS of your gold lucky cat! "I have a love or them and have found a few but none THAT BIG."
LASTLY: My face nick nack of yours is the big boxer dog figurine. I have a Boxer figurine collection. I will show it in a blog post.

So now after seeing your stuff I think we even have more in common than I already thought.
=D
I also agree with the above comment. Try and sell what you are bored or tired of. Maybe in your etsy?? And then bring in some new fresh thrift finds. If you don't want to do that, box up & pack away some of your breakable nick nacks for in the future when you have a bigger place. (I have done that... I think I have 2 bins now.) *HAHAHA*

OMG - what a lot of SPECTACULAR TREASURES I spy!!! OK - here's what to do: send me the knick knacks, the books, the clothes and the linens, and then start again from scratch. See - I'm a Solutions Gal! Desiree is indeed a Bloomers Gal, but talk to Helga for her expert advice on Safety Pants - they might help out with your Rumble in the Jungle situation!

You are such a cracker. I feel that we would be quite best friends in real life. Sarah xxx

Ooh la la, my, they are a bit sexy..I bet they won't stay on for long when your boy sees them!

I have that many books next to my bed too! I read every night, none of this e-book business for me.

I love all your nick nacks, it would be a shame to move them on. Our home is small also, I have sooo much overflow that I have some in the sheds and some in the flat as well. There is nothing wrong with keeping it all, when you move you will have lovelies to take with you.

p.s. I think I have fallen in love with your cats on the bookshelf!

P.s.s Some people have likened pink musk sticks to old granny perfume, you either love 'em or hate them. My Belgian friend thought they were disgusting..haha

I love sneak peaks at others goodies! You have such a treasure trove! I adore your knick knacks! I say do more outfit posts wear as much of it as you can or eBay it! Bloomers are killer, I live them in the summer with a pair of flip flops and bikini top:) saucy! Btw your painting of Helga is tops!!!

Vintage Bird Girl said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

Haha I think we share the same problem. Never enough space for all of the stuff I bring home. It kind of stresses me to see it all somedays. I have a huge Ebay pile to sell too at the top of my stairs....I just never seem to have the time to list stuff. Good to know I'm not the only one with that problem. I adore your little shadow boxes & shelves. That made my heart flutter. Love that house coat dress too....fab fabric. I had to wear bloomers at high school. Tartan ones at that. I can't imagine ever wearing them again, but never say never I suppose! Xx

Just embrace the stuff. It's more organised than mine. I don't like neat and minimilist houses anyway. You're an artist who likes to surround herself with nice stuff. Display it! Buy more storage, as long as there's a small path to the kitchen and toilet, who gives a shit?
I love all your stuff. Open your house as a coffee shop/museum - we all come.

I love this post and all the amazing treasures in it!
I need a sneak peek into that mexican paintings book, it seems so precious!
I also enjoy all your knick knacks and I'm in love with the little wooden kitchen and the japanese granny statue!
This post reminds me that I have to tidy my closet, it's really messy in it and during this weekend I'm going to dig out some vintage clothes I left somwhere else, so I'm going to have your same problem!

Oh Clare, so much lovely STUFF. I love your knick knacks. I've just scrolled up to look at them all again and I've noticed your cat string holder. We've got one the same AND a dog. Both are in a drawer somewhere. Not good.

Bloody storage issues. I have the same problem. Have you utilised every possible space? Shelf over the door for instance. I've got a strict *cough* one in one out policy for certain items like tts, mugs and plates. Not books though. Lots and lots of books.

I'll look out for bloomers for you. xx

Lovely buys! I know what you mean about slowing down though I have 3 dress rails and two closets full to the brim........... I love your knick knack collection, just think when you move you will have enough space for it all maybe haha. xx

You can never go wrong with bloomers .. they should be easy to find on ebay I would think.

Miss Magpie said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

I'm the same too, wardrobe bursting, every hanger has at least 3 things on it, every door has dresses and bags hanging off it and book piled EVERYWHERE!

Himself is a mad hoarder too. There is no hope.

I'm with Lucy, embrace all your stuff and enjoy it. It looks neat and prettily displayed and I'd absolutely kill for a rummage, there's so many interesting things I'm dying to examine closely.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for bloomers, too. In the meantime get yourself some white leggings, cut them off mid-thigh and trim them with lace! xxx

Bella said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

The bloomer thing made me think. I wonder when they became unfashionable as I know from seeing a television advert about anti chaffing gel that many folk are looking for such things. Maybe you have identified a gap in the market?

Sara said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

We have such similar rooms! Especially the bookshelves, with the trinkets displayed alongside the books.. :D Your things are fantastic, and I happen to love rooms like ours..cozy and whatnot. :) Have you taken up any room under the bed yet (if your bed's on a frame)..I've stored a lot under there, and it's worked out well. You should give yourself a big ol' pat on the back, 'cause for having so much amazing stuff, your organizational skills are top notch! Thanks for sharing your room with us! I love seeing everyone's spaces..

Bloomers are a fab idea..not to mention cute. I know when I wanna avoid "chub rub" I've found a few swipes of deodorant on the inner thigh super uber helpful. :D Ya know, in the meantime..then it's all about the bloomers! XOXO And I know I'd simply adore more outfit posts from you..

You are a mad thrifter!

Bella Q said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

My suggestion is get practical- you THINK there is no room but there is! Create hanging space on walls, double time by making hang rack shelves on wall, one over the other so you can hang tops and separates, making more room in your closet for long dresses, coats and such. Also, weed out of your wardrobe things you really DON'T wear or things you don't like. That much stuff means you can surround yourselve with only things you love. And wear.

Then sell/swap the rest!
