I'm off on holiday tomorrow, only over the Isle of Wight, I stayed there last year in a tent and it pissed it down everyday and one night there were force nine gales.
But... this time we'll be in a static caravan (trailer trash) so it'll be a lot more comfy.
Here's a few things that have inspired me - or I've bought or been given recently.
Drinking tea in my new job at Counter Culture
New old shoes, bought from my new boss Cheryl, who's got a large collection of vintage stuff.
My mum gave me this large lot of 70s onward jewellery she no longer wanted! Love the very 70s pendant and the huge silver butterflies!
Borrowing Mike's mum's fabulous early 80s fake fur coat to keep me warm whilst watching Twelfth Night
My other "boss" at Counter Culture (putting boss in inverted commas as he is horrified by the term)
made me part of his art work and I'm very honoured.
The other week I bought a dress off ebay and low and behold it turned out to be from lovely Lucy Nation! She not only sent me the dress but a lovely card, a lace collar, a brooch and a cotton scarf!
Actually I have chopped the dress up a bit, it was
very tight on the arms and round the top of the chest, so I removed them both and added the Broderie Anglais trim!
I was really excited to find this large size repro bullet bra on ebay for £18, it fits like a dream and looks fantastic
Here's what's been inspiring me recently.
Vanessa's classic but quirky masculine tailoring was a big influence on Atomic Mildred
Polly Browne's look circa 1970
Pierre et Gilles
Early colour Autochromes
(Kezzie on a normal Saturday night)
Beauty at Hughenden
(someone gasped just behind me in this room last week, but when I turned round, there was no one there.... spooky. or tinnitus)
That's it for now, I'll be sporadically catching up with blogs during the week! Have a great weekend everyone.
